Happy Thanksgiving...

Wanted to take a break from the Macy's parade and wish you all the best of today. The fact that my break occurs during Miley Cyrus' performance only makes my morning that much better. But on a more serious note...I am truly thankful for each of you associated with all that our program has become. Thanksgiving is a time for appreciation and family - I greatly appreciate this, our color guard family. Have a wonderful and safe day and I'll see you guys next week.

For the inquiring minds, click here to read about the history of Thanksgiving.

All my best,

Time Change...

For Tuesday's rehearsal, we will be meeting from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Mt. Laurel. Come in by the playground, turn right, and we'll stretch in that hallway (by the bathrooms). Be safe in the wet!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Yesterday I went to the doctor and learned a few things...
  • One should not go to the walk-in clinic at 5:34pm if you have anything else to accomplish with your evening.
  • I need to take a pillow next time.
  • I have a "great" case of streptococcus, better known to most as "strep throat."
With that last revelation, I have been instructed to stop living; these last few days, seems I have that on lock down. I hate to cancel again, but I feel I must. It's too early for us all to get sick. So, we will postpone our rehearsals until Tuesday, Nov. 25, where you will also get your handbooks. Enjoy your weekend.

I asked Destin Marie Weldon - Captain 2006 - 2007 and Emily Jo Moore - Captain 2007 -2008 to lend a few words of encouragement. Here's what they had to say...

Wow, I can’t believe it is your first performance. I have heard nothing but incredible things about you all. I know the majority of girls are incredibly nervous, and that’s okay, I remember my first game, I thought I was going to throw up! I looked at all of the people in the stands and it seemed like they were just staring at me, waiting for me to mess up. Well they are not! You are going to look incredible to every single person who walks into that stadium. All they can see is how beautiful and talented you are. I know this summer you have been pushed more than you ever have in your entire life, but when you step out on that field tonight you will see that it was all worth it. The hours of sweating, the miles you ran up that stupid hill, the soreness, the broken nails, and the desires to kill Lindsey will not matter anymore. It will be you, the field, and your flag. That’s all that matters anyway. Perform with every that is in you! Do not let fear get the best of you. Keep your heads up and pour every bit of passion you have into what you do. I do not know if you have noticed, but Chelsea has the most beautiful guard that God has brought together. You are a team... encourage each other, feed off of each other, and most of all love each other. With every breath you take and every move that you make do it to the glory of God. When you dance, dance like the angels around the throne of God. I love each of you so much and I am so proud. Love, Emmi

Although I've only known most of you for a short period of time, I've already begun to see just how much you can accomplish when you set your mind to it. Remember when you go out on the field tonight, that you're not doing this show to impress anyone but yourself, so don't be nervous, this is all about you, and the way that YOU feel. So don't just run through it, get into it and enjoy it, there's no rush quite like a guard performance. So go out there and shine like I know you can, use the crowd's energy and just have fun. I know you'll all do amazing. Go out there and show the world! All my love, Destin Marie

(sings) Band Camp is Hot HOT HOT!

Several water breaks were taken today as we ventured into the second song. Spirits are high, bodies are tired, and minds are engaged. Could this be the best yet? I think so! Keep all of these lovely kids in your thoughts. They've hit each and every new skill thrown at them with amazing stride. Special thanks to all of the parents keeping the kids in place as well as the staffs' minds! Pics will be uploaded for dinner. 30 minutes until sectionals on the field. ~L

Lost and found...

It's that time of year when everything gets pulled out of the closet and gets put in a better place. Not surprising is the amount of clothes that were left. Any of this look familiar (click on the pic to enlarge)... Some things we noticed...Erin Standifer - your jacket, Emily Moore - the 83 inch heels, Natalie Coleman - speaker?, Kelsey Adcock - Clinique tote?, Kristina Kelley - black flip flops?

It's a new day in the Visual Ensemble (VE) Room and you'll all be surprised.

If any of this is yours, please let me know and/or come get it by next Friday.
