The week of June 1...

Yes...it's June already! Some fun facts about the month here.

Friday

  • Rehearsal, 9am - 12noon, Intermediate School Gym
  • Wear tennis shoes and bring water and a healthy snack. Bring whatever forms and/or payments that are due.
  • Be in the stretch circle...on time.

From the email...

- If you haven't made the 1st payment, this MUST happen. During the summer, you may turn in checks to me at rehearsal. Remember: always a check made out to "The Color Guard of Chelsea High."

- All forms that have been handed out need to be turned in to me ASAP. I will compile, organize, and forward them for you. Expeditious...that's our word of the century.

- On June 8, our times will be from 8am - 11. I have to get to Nashville to start planning the next winter season. It's a never ending process.

-Please email me your vacation plans.

- The Band's blog is chelseaband.blogspot.com. Check it out for Band Booster news and general announcements. There is also a permanent link up there >>>>.

- Check out these lovely pictures by some Chelsea Intermediate students.

Sorry it's been so long since a post, ladies. I do hope you all have been practicing and preparing yourself for a very intense summer. I had a meeting tonight with the band booster officers and everything is falling into place for this season.

I hope everyone had a good time at the Brooks Clinic. I trust you all were met with challenges and inspiration. I heard great things about your attitude throughout the day. You never cease to impress. Check out the pic compliments of Mr. and Mrs. Bookout (Boogie's parents). You can click HERE for their new web-site.

Brooks Clinic

Some pointers for Saturday...

You need...
- money for breakfast and dinner (fast food)
- flag (Pink) and rifle. If you don't have a rifle, I'll have one for you on Saturday.
- to wear some Chelsea-esque t-shirt, Soffe-type shorts, and tennis shoes with socks.
- a small water bottle.

Everyone must be in the High School Band Room parking lot at 6am on Saturday morning. Do not be late. We should return to the high school around 7pm. Be sure you have a flag (pink with cheaters) and a rifle. If you don't have a rifle, I'll have one for you on Saturday.

Be sure to go through your handbooks and return all forms to me ASAP. You also need to make sure that you're caught up with payments and get those to Mrs. Newman. Remeber...always pay with a check to "The Color Guard of Chelsea High" and notate the member's name in the memo line.

Parents...your daughter has been given the band handbook, the guard handbook, and a cd of the fall show. It is imperative (and required) that you become familiar with the information in each publication. If any of these don't appear in your house soon, let me know. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.

Communcation Breakdown...

For the next few days, my internet service will be sketchy as I am moving. I will try to check my email at least a day. Should you need my timely response, please feel free to call me. Because this is a public site, I cannot post my number. You can find it in the handbook and many other publications.

Today, we celebrate our mothers. A trip to "the farm" is in order for this son and I'm ever so excited to be with the family. Take a moment to tell your mother what she means to you. Flowers never hurt anyone either.

A poem I found...

You are my mother and my friend, Which is unusual. Somehow our characters must blend: Your wisdom and my will.

I turn, and you are there for me; I speak, you understand. I feel cared for, but also free; You lead but don't command.

I'm fortunate that I was born To someone just like you; I love you, not just as my mom, But for what you are and do.

Mother, I love you.

Congratulations....

are in order for Ms. Destin Weldon. Destin auditioned for the University of Alabama Color Guard on Saturday and was accepted! She completely wowed the audience with her solo routine and won the staff over with her talent and concentration during the clinic.

Destin, to say we're all proud of you would be an understatement. We wish you the best and ROLL TIDE! (Yes...that hurt me.)
